| Do you think that the "old-fashioned" encyclopedia is still useful? | | By "old-fashioned" i mean the encyclopedia books that had a lot of volumes.
Can you imagine, not too long ago, those books that took up so much space in the bookshelves were very important for school?
Now all students have to do is go online and they'll find the answers for any homework.
i remember my parents bought a twenty-something volume of encarta for me when i was a kid, and i'd be so amazed at all the information i can read off from the pages.
But now, i hardly even pick up any of those books. I'd just switch on my PC and surf away.
I still have my encarta books at home, but their gathering dust in one of the bookshelves in my room.
I think i'm gonna go and browse through them later on, see if the information they offer is still useful.

| Do You Still Have An Encyclopedia? | | I remember when my father brought home our first set of encyclopedia. He was carrying 2 boxes of hard bound Funk & Wagnalls with gold colored side pages. I was fascinated at how everything I want to know seems to be contained in all those 26 books. While my friends went to library, I just stayed at home and did all my research there. Now, they just sit on the shelf gathering dust. The internet made them obsolete. I haven't opened any of them for the last 10 years. Do you still have one in your home? | |
| | Which encyclopedia you prefer other than wikipedia? | | I have seen many students googling up for encyclopedia references or looking up at wikipedia directly. Which encyclopedia you prefer, whether online or offline. Why you prefer that. Also do you think wikipedia is credible? | |

| | Online Encyclopedia or Printed Encyclopedia? | | Do people still read or turn to the printed encyclopedia for information when there is the internet? I think the internet is a better research tool where information is updated more often than the printed encyclopedia. Another thing, a laptop or PC occupies much less space than a bookcase. What do you think? | |
