| | Extreme Sports: What do you think of them? Have you tried any? | | It could be an adventure of a lifetime! I did parachute jumping many moons ago and I could still feel the adrenaline rush in my vain with my life hanging on an invisible thread. It was fun until I hit the ground and realized I wasn't a bird! LOL! I did river rafting too, and realized I was not a fish nearly drowning myself in the course! I was quite keen on extreme sports, wanting to try them at least once in my lifetime. There are certain personalities that live on adrenaline rushes . This need to feel the adrenaline coursing through their veins, making their hearts pump at such a rate that one might think it is going to burst through their chest, causes grown men and women to take risks that to most, who don't thrive on risk and not victims of the adrenalin demon, seem crazy and reckless, and with total disregard for the gift of life that God has bestowed upon them. You see these people jump out of airplanes, bungee jump etc. Are they brave, fearless or just incredibly stupid? If they succeed they make headlines as record breakers but if not, you'll read about them in the obituary headlines. And you reckon, Geez! What a waste!!So are you a risk-taker? Have you ever dream or... | |
| | All I want for Easter.... | | Ok guys i really have to go to bed - after weeks of being a good girl and having the computer off by midnight I find myself sitting here at 2 am writing this!Just wanted to share this little story with you! My 6 year old daughter lost one of her front teeth the other week and ever since the other one has got looser and looser. Last night it was hanging by an invisible thread, honestly I have no idea how it was staying there! She was twisting it, wiggling it, poking it with her tongue but nothing would work! I couldn't let her go to bed the way it was as I was scared she would swallow it and she wouldn't let me try to get it out! Eventually I reverted to an old favourite and gave her a toffee, clever Mummy, within seconds it was out! Anyway she always (well she has already lost the bottom two, so this is her fourth tooth) puts her tooth under her pillow in an envelope for the tooth fairy but las night she insisted on leaving it in her ornamental toothkeeper but that clever tooth fairy still found it and left her money, with no deductions for the finders fee! lol All night I keep singing to her all I want for Easter is my 2 front teeth! At first she laughed and told me at... | |
| | Have You Ever Just Found Out A "Celebrity" That You Knew Had Passed Away? | | I had been involved with a discussion by worldwise about the passing of a rather well-known Native American actor, Floyd Red Crow Westerman. I gave her a link to a website that is a listing of all Native American actors....so curious I started puttering around the site myself, and came up with a familiar name, Rino (pronounced Reeno) Thunder. So clicked on his link to his site and found out to my dismay he had died back in 2003!What was shocking for me, was that I actually knew him. This goes back to the late 1970s. Being part Native American myself I perchance went to an outdoor powwow at the Museum of the American Indian..I took my camera with me and got some excellent photos, mainly using black and white film. Then I found out about the American Indian Community House (AICH) in Manhattan and at the time they were having a gallery exhibit of Native art work. I asked permission if I could photograph some of the work and they said it was all right. A few weeks later, I went back to them, with a small portfolio of some of the black and white prints I had made up as I knew how to develop my own film and prints. I showed off my work to some of the staff members and they were so... | |
| | Tips for Quilting | | Hi I just want to give the members a tip for quiliting to those who are interested.
Instead of buying "micro-filament" (invisible thread) from craft stores, buy three-pound fishing line from an angling shop or a hardware store. It is much cheaper, and you get far more.
I hope those who do quilting will enjoy this tip | |
