Talk about the magic in your life! | | Aren't They Flimsy These Days? | | The British gentlemen will not go anywhere without his top hat and his brolly. It was standard attire to carry an umbrella in those Victorian times. Now, it is just a functional piece we carry around in case it pours rain from high heaven. But guess, what the umbrellas these days don't last They have a flimsy structure and the stem is weak. Go out on a stormy day and the umbrella will just break up under the wind and tumultuous rain. The worse culprits are the foldable umbrellas. They just cannot stand even a strong breeze. Are the manufacturers short changing us by using weak steel structures for our umbrellas or has the weather really been hard on us humans lately? What do you think?[em]devil[/em]
| | Do those courses that teac you how to pick up women actually work? | | I think I'm a pretty average guy. I'm not fat, I'm not thin, but I'm not Mr. Bodybuilder, either. I have a pretty decent job, etc.But I can't seem to talk to women. It's like, I will go talk to them, and they seem uninterested after 15 seconds. I can't hold their attention. I have heard about these courses that supposedly teach you how to get better with women, and I've seen the TV show by that guy who wears the furry top hat, but I can't tell if it's real or not.I decided to look around at some websites ( http://www.secretsinseduction.com ) but I can't figure out if they're legit or not. I'm sure there are some programs out there that help, but I'm sure there are others that don't work at all. How can I tell the difference?I know that there aren't any magic pickup lines or anything, but I just wish I could hold the attention of women longer. It's like they're already bored after I say hello. I go out and I see guys who are able to talk to women for hours and the women look excited. I want that. How do I do that?Have any of the men here looked into any of these courses or books that teach you how to get better with women? Were any of them worthwhile? What should... | |

| | Interesting TITANIC trivia | | I thought it might be fun to post some interesting trivia about TITANIC: both the movie and history. Here goes:1. During the first manned submersible dive to Titanic, the crew got to look at the wreck for only 10 seconds.2. The last Titanic survivor's body was pulled from the Atlantic in June of 1912; roughly 2 months after the tragedy.3. The first manned expedition to the Titanic wreck was sponsored by the U.S. Navy.4. Morgan Robertson's novel,Futility, about a tragic shipwreck, bore amazing similarities to the Titanic tragedy. The ship's name in his novel wasTitan. Both sank after striking an iceberg in the North Atlantic, and like Titanic, the Titan was also struck on its starboard side. Some other stats comparing the two ships are: capacity (3,000), lifeboats (Titan-24, Titanic-20), propellers (3), month of accident (April), time of accident (Titan-near midnight, Titanic-11:40 PM). Robertson's novel was published in 1898, 14 years before Titanic's sinking.5. The Titanic was never christened.6. On the night of the disaster, the air temperature was 31F (-6C).7. Before he became Titanic's captain, E. J. Smith was involved in another... | |
| | My Bizarre Dream Last Night | | Ok-I have been having the strangest nightmares as of late. All this week I will have one bad dream and one good dream per night. So, last night I think was a combination. I am not sure if it was an all out nightmare, but it was surely disturbing. I consider myself a very vivid dreamer. I remember my dreams in detail, regardless, of knowing the meaning to them. So, my last dream last night was about David Bowie. I have dreamt about Johnny Depp twice. In those dreams I knew him and I was on the red carpet in one of them and casually said something like,"Hey,what's up."The dream about Bowie was strange. But then, how could one dream of Bowie without it being a tad bit surreal and slightly outlandish, if not definitely theatrical. Just writing about this dream is difficult. I can visualize it in my mind, so vivid. Steve Martin said:"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture." That is so true. So where does he fall about writing about a musical dream? OK. David Bowie in a top hat..a white top hat..he's all in white..he looks rather haggard and pale..almost like a ghost..he is..singing jazz and doing a number with a cane center stage. He does the jazz hands thing..his... | |
| | not as bad as I thought | | This weeks challenges I thought were going to be a lot harder to get than they were, Wonderland Memories was easy enough just use the top hat to your advantage and you can have it quickly, but the Casino Island Black Jack worried me, and I was surprised that it took me an hour to do both challenges, so I was pleasantly surprised that CIBJ didn't take longer, my last spin put me over the top to eek it out in just an hourBut I found that if you started loosing, to switch tables so that you could reset the table....worked every time.GL getting your badges | |
| | Picture Question: What do you think? | | I like to hear people's opinions, and therefore I thought of asking everyone here their opinion on a picture. When you see the picture I have attached what do you think? Please, if you wish to write a little story then go right ahead, I would love to hear it! I appreciate everyone's responses! What I think of when I see this picture:I think of a man and woman on a horse and buggy on the way to their wedding, or to the town to pick up produce. I think of the woman in a nice dress and the man in a top hat with gloves on. I also think of the man wearing a cowboy hat (Indiana Jones style) and a pair of jeans. The woman would still be wearing the dress. It's a romantic picture, and I feel happy looking at it. So what do you think of the picture? | |
| | Artist for Roald Dahl | | Do you love the BFG's giant ears and Willy Wonka's top hat? Quentin Blake is the artist who has brought them and many of author Roald Dahl's other crazy creations to life.
Quentin first started drawing aged five and has never stopped. He has written and illustrated his own books too, including Zagazoo, Mrs Armitage and Mr Magnolia.BIG FRIENDLY FEET....... In Roald Dahl's original story, the BFG wore boots. But Roald and quentin didn't like the look of them. One day a package arrived for Quentin. Inside was a large sandel belonging to Roald and that's what the BFG wears on his feet.Quention was born on 16th December 1932
| | What to wear to a wedding... | | This is different from the previous discussion about a "back-up dress". I posted a discussion about my nephew's wedding (the invitation sent via email, etc. etc.). Now I am trying to decide what to wear to this wedding. My biggest dilemma is that I cannot afford to go out and buy a new outfit. I am going to have to buy my 11 year old daughter a dress. My 14 year old is going to wear her graduation dress.I know you are not supposed to upstage the bride. I have been told this wedding is going to be "a little different". I have seen the bride's wedding dress - antique ivory lace. Apparently the groom is wearing top hat and tails. Whatever. What I want to know is whether I can wear the outfit I wore at my wedding. This was my second marriage and I wore a knee-length champagne coloured strapless dress with a matching tuxedo jacket. There is some satin trim in both the dress and the jacket. I have worn that dress on exactly two occasions. I finally fit back into it. The purpose of getting an outfit like that is so that I could wear it again. Most of the people at this wedding were not at my wedding (my brother and his wife were, as were my parents and sisters, and the groom's... | |
