| Do you love magic? | | Dear brothers and sisters of myLot,
There was a time when I just hated magic. It seemed really complicated stuff and above all it was to me, a way of fooling people. May be I was too young to understand the intricacies of this art. Now, I suddenly found out that one of my maternal uncle is fond of magic. He is quite famous among children who consider him to be a very great magician. He has successfully integrated his magical skills with his teaching, and that is what makes him more interesting. The last time he came to visit us, he wanted to buy a few stuffs related to magic. He took me with him. This visit to the shop changed my entire concept about magic. Instead of hating it even more, I myself fell in love with it.
Now, I consider magic as a very elegant form of entertainment. It is based on deception and that is exactly what makes it a hobby the most intelligent and innovative people.
What is the element in our real life that surprises us the most? It is in fact the same deception. We are often deceived by our senses in understanding reality. It is this perception that draws us in conflicts. While there shouldn't actually be any conflict at all. What we observe with our... | |
| | Magicians | | Have you ever seen a magic show? Used to be a lot more popular in the past. My uncle was a magician with the USO and entertained the troops with magic shows. I remember that he used to perform the trick where he would saw my aunt in half. He used to say that magicians would never tell their secrets. When we were kids we would beg him to show us a magic trick. He would always do the one where he would magically pull a coin out of your ear. I miss those days. They were so much fun and so entertaining. My uncle was very talented in what he did. | |

| Sigfried and Roy's farewell show | | I just finished watching Sigfried and Roy's final show, their chance to say good by to all their fans and also to raise money for a new hospital.I have to admit magic shows and all the hoopla have never been my favorite kind of show, but to see the tables turned, with Roy as the "pointer" and Sigfried as the "doer", to see them reverse roles in order to do the show, short though it was, was really touching. Did anybody else watch it? What did you think? | |

| | How do you feel... | | For those of you who have been to Las Vegas, or anywhere similar, that has places where animals are used for magic shows...Have you ever seen the animals all caged up between the shows? I visited my mother in Vegas when she lived there and we were walking through some of the hotels and casinos. We came to the one (forget the name) that has the white tigers... what a sad sight. They had these tigers pacing back and forth in these little glass "showcases" with no food and no water and it broke my heart into a thousand pieces.I hate the idea of using animals for entertainment in the first place, but to keep them pent up like that just to "display" them for tourists and drunk people... I couldn't look and it brought tears to my eyes.Anyone ever see anything like this? How do you feel about it? How do you feel about animals used for entertainment like that? | |
